Council Licence Council Licence

Whenever you see this icon Council Licence on an advert it means that the breeder has verified to Epupz that they hold a valid Council Licence to breed.  You can find out what this means by visiting your local councils website. Most council operate using the same standards.
Officers from the Licensing Team inspect these premises at least once a year to ensure that they comply with national minimal standards.
The standards relate to structure, safety, security, infectious disease control, and the suitability of the licence holder. The aim is to ensure:

  • minimum standards of welfare for animals,
  • prevent a spread of disease and
  • the safety of the public visiting these premises.

Visits are also undertaken following complaints.
Periodic inspections are carried out with the Council’s authorised veterinary officer to look at specific animal health issues.

This may differ from Council to Council and Region to Region.
